Android 15: Expect These Devices to Get the Update

Uzone.id – Android 15 has finally been officially released, but not for all Android phone users yet. The operating system, codenamed ‘Vanilla Ice Cream’, is only available in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) repository which can be downloaded by developers before the OS is actually rolled out to general users.

For your information, AOSP is a library of documentation and source code for Android that is available to anyone. Developers can use the source code on AOSP to create special variants of the Android OS for their own devices, and to ensure that their devices meet compatibility requirements.

“We’re proud to continue our work in open source through the AOSP. Open source allows anyone to build upon and contribute to Android, resulting in devices that are more diverse and innovative,” said Matthew McCullough, VP of Product Management, Android Developer, in the official Google blog.

He continued, “You can leverage your app development skills in Android Studio with Jetpack Compose to create applications that thrive across the entire ecosystem. You can even examine the source code for a deeper understanding of how Android works.”

From his statement, Android 15 has a more intuitive user interface (UI), especially for devices with larger screens such as tablets and foldable phones.

Android 15 will also be supported by a range of AI-based features to help improve productivity and user experience. For example, the ability to search for songs with Circle to Search.

Also, improving their experience when accessing media and cameras. Don’t forget about the security side, McCullough guarantees that Android 15 is a secure operating system for users.

From its official blog, Google said that Android 15 will be truly available for end users of Google Pixel Series devices that support it in the coming weeks. Then, what about other brands?

Google has already told which brands will get Android 15 on their smartphones when it is available later, ranging from Samsung, Honor, iQOO, Lenovo, Motorola, Nothing, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, Sony, Tecno, Vivo, and Xiaomi. The update will be provided in the coming months.
