Uzone.id – Smart home devices are not just easy to control remotely via smartphone. They are also very useful for saving energy and helping reduce your electricity and water bills. How does it work?

There are many types of smart home devices available now. From small items that were once considered ordinary, like smart lights and plugs, to larger devices like air conditioners.

As the name suggests, smart home devices can seamlessly connect to your smartphone via an app. Just connect them to the same WiFi network, and voila! You can control them remotely, no matter where you are.

This is the advantage. With remote control, you can use smart home devices to avoid wasting electricity and water, while also saving money on your bills.

1. Use Smart Lights

Often, you leave the lights on all day, which causes your electricity bill to skyrocket. Smart lights can be used to prevent energy waste because they can be controlled remotely via smartphone.

The smart bulbs available on the market now use LED lights, which are at least 75% more energy-efficient than incandescent bulbs and last much longer.

Moreover, these lights can be dimmed, allowing you to save even more electricity. Some smart lights even have sensors that can detect motion and the light levels in the surrounding environment. When it’s dark, the lights turn on automatically, and when it’s bright, they turn off automatically.

2. Smart Switches and Plugs

If smart lights are too expensive for you, there are smart switches. These are much more economical than buying smart LED bulbs, although installation is a bit more complicated.

This is your choice: expensive with easy installation, or cheaper with more effort in the installation process.

After replacing your traditional switches with smart switches, you can turn the lights on and off remotely using just your smartphone. Some brands even display information about your electricity usage at home.

Additionally, we recommend installing smart plugs. They function the same way, allowing you to turn devices on and off based on a schedule or when you are at home or away, all via smartphone. These plugs are useful if you have table lamps or floor lamps, for example, or fans that you want to turn on when the room temperature gets too hot. Even better, smart plugs are usually very affordable.

3. Water Leak Detectors

To save on water bills, try adding water leak detectors in several locations, such as under sinks, behind toilets, washing machines, and other spots prone to leaks.

When the sensor detects a leak, it will send an alert to the connected smartphone, allowing you to address the issue before it gets out of control.

Remember, this not only saves on your water bill. Water leaks can cause massive chaos, such as costly repairs, mold around the house, and so on. Besides notifying you of leak points, water leak detectors also help users find sources of water waste, like continuously running toilets, and inform you of the issue before it persists for too long.

4. Smart Air Conditioner

Some of the latest AC products are equipped with smart features to save energy. For example, ACs that use inverters instead of compressor technology to cool the air. Inverters use much less energy than compressors, thus saving the energy used and potentially reducing your electricity bills.

There are also smart ACs that can connect to your smartphone. This allows you to control the device remotely, such as cooling the room before you arrive home, ensuring it is turned off when you leave, and so on.

As a suggestion, try using smart home devices from the same brand. This is because they usually have features that allow you to manage, schedule, and so on simultaneously, making it easier.
